It is interesting how the times have changed, and the actors have different accents, but the motivations stay the same. Of course, if one rails against the tyranny that threatens to suppress a God-given right, protected as sacrosanct in the founding document of our republic today, one is labeled an extremist, or worse. However, is there any real difference between the forces of the Crown attempting to confiscate the arms of free men then, and the un-Constitutional and wholly subversive nature in which the “Elites” of this nation would have us disarmed? On the surface, one might think that these Executive Orders were not on the same level as several Regiments of Foot marching on Lexington and Concord. However, when one considers that Federal forces in the guise of Law Enforcement commonly raid and confiscate firearms from citizens based purely on failing to pay a tax, or an arbitrary ruling codified by an unelected body of bureaucrats, the intent and result are the same.
If you fail to pay the IRS $200 in taxes, they simply send you a bill. Suppose you fail to pay a $200 tax to the ATF for something that they have changed the “rules” to fit under a very specific legal definition from nearly 90 years ago. In that case, they raid your house in the early hours, shoot your dogs, confiscate every firearm you own, and take you to jail pending a Federal trial in which you must spend untold thousands in defense against a Government prosecutor with limitless resources. This something may have been perfectly legal under the letter of the law yesterday. However, today political pressure from overreaching executives force bureaucrats to “reinterpret” legal definitions to make felons of law-abiding citizens.
Reasoning is given – all flawed, or worse, based on manipulation of statistics and the emotional state of a public that is bewildered by near-constant gang violence, the threat of terrorism, and years of Marxist conditioning that the state should have a monopoly of both force and the protection of citizens. When the facts do not fit the narrative, they change the facts to fit. When the public notices the flim-flam, they appeal to emotion and manipulate the media.
Terrorist attack? No! Workplace Violence!

Daily mass shootings in “gun-free” cities? No! Gang violence with guns from free states!

Not enough “ghost guns” used in crimes because most criminals don’t have the knowledge or equipment to actually finish an 80% lower? Include any commercially made gun with an altered serial number in the total!

Can you not cover up your failings as an agency to detect and prevent terrorist attacks? Blame magazine capacity and ban previously “ruled” legal objects

Don’t understand the Constitution, Federal law, or the role of the firearm in American history? Just make shit up!
Am I saying that we should meet on Lexington Common to face down the ATF? Well, not yet. Fortunately, we still have a semi-functional court system, and Congress is (as usual) deadlocked on anything of import – aside from making themselves millions – but I digress. We can, however, make ourselves known. Write to your Congresspersons, publish on the internet, peacefully assemble, and protest, and most importantly – VOTE OUT THE OPPRESSORS.
